& Sheila Foster
Sheila
and I started dancing in 1994 hoping to learn ballroom and sequence at
a local dance school. After a while we decided we would like to compete
in open Modern and Old-time Sequence.
So we changed from class lessons to weekly private lessons with teacher's
specialising in this mode of dancing.
We won our first competition at the Easter Sequence Dance Festival at
the Floral Hall in Southport in 1999. We carried on Competing in the Sequence
but at the same time, deciding to move also into Modern Ballroom competitions
this meant having lessons from some of the top Teachers/Coaches in Modern
Ballroom.
Our highest accolade was being marked into second place in the Commonwealth
Games Dance Competition held at the Empress Ballroom Winter Gardens Blackpool.
The next challenge for us was in deciding to take our Associate Teachers
Ballroom Exam, and after studying for over 6 months Sheila and I qualified
in July 2010.
Our aim in attaining this qualification is to make learning to dance for
beginners as easy and joyful as possible for everyone.
